According to Energystar.gov you may be eligible for a 30 percent tax credit and up to $1,500 on energy-efficiency improvements.
Did You Know…
You can spend up to $5,000 during a 2 year period on a single or multiple energy efficiency products, for your principal residence that you own and live in and qualify for the credit. If you already received the full amount in 2009 you are not eligible in 2010.
If there is more than one person living in the same home, unmarried and own it jointly, each person is eligible for the tax credit based on the amount the spent so if both spent.

The following products are eligible for the 30% tax credit only with no upper limit: geothermal heat pumps, solar water heaters, solar panels, fuel cells, and wind generators.
All products must be installed by December 31, 2010. To benefit the products must be installed in an existing home & your principal residence. New construction and rentals do not qualify.
